While some people may insert qualifiers on that statement about insanity, there is no doubt that I recently got the latest and greatest flu from my son. A simple, old-fashioned 24-hour flu like in the pre-covid days, it took my ten-year-old son 24 hours to weather it and another 24 to recover completely and resume his usual antics.
Two days later, when it was my turn, 24 hours of illness became 48 and the 24-hour recovery period is seemingly open-ended. I will spare you gentle readers details about body fluid emissions. Still, the recovery is undeniable so my expat life and The Expat Life will apparently go on.
However, my planned article for this week must be deferred until next Tuesday, when I will describe in more detail three initial proposals for the next direction of this expat account. Please be thinking about what new dimensions of the expat lifestyle you think we should explore as a community. Your suggestions and preferences are invited. Thought for the week:
(From my journal) Still low energy level and the last vestiges of the flu. More reminders to use every minute for only the important things, every step in the right direction. Some obstacles we drive through; sometimes, though, we stop and smell the roses… or take a nap.
